SMIC denied rumors of ties with the Chinese military
Representatives of the Chinese chip manufacturer Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) announced the company's lack of ties with the Chinese armed forces. It is reported by Bloomberg. Earlier it became known that the US government is considering the possibility of blacklisting SMIC. In this case, the Chinese manufacturer will lose direct access to American chip manufacturing equipment. Reuters, citing its sources, reported that the US government suspects SMIC of cooperation with the Chinese military. Our company manufactures semiconductors and provides services exclusively to civilian and commercial customers. Any statements about the company's ties with the Chinese military are false, SMIC emphasized. As previously reported by the news agency, the US government has now blacklisted more than 275 Chinese companies, including telecommunications equipment manufacturers Huawei and ZTE. American companies cannot cooperate with organizations on this list without receiving a special license from the US government.
