In Riga, ammonia leaked at the Karavela fish processing plant. This was announced on September 7 by Andris Bite, a member of the board of the enterprise, LETA quoted him as saying. According to a board member, an ammonia leak occurred on the evening of September 6, when planned repair work was carried out at the enterprise. Bite also clarified that about 50 kg of ammonia in a gaseous state fell into the air. In his opinion, such an amount of this substance does not pose a danger to people. According to the news agency, a chemical leak occurred at the Sandoz pharmaceutical plant in Italian Rovereto on Wednesday, September 2.
