US may suspend WADA funding
The US Office of National Drug Control Policy has called on Congress to consider withholding funding from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) if it cannot take measures to reform it. It is reported by The Washington Post with reference to the corresponding report. The document notes that the United States annually allocates $2.7 million to WADA, which is more than any other country. It is specified that American taxpayers should receive a return on investments in WADA in the form of clean sports, fair play, effective management of the world anti-doping system and a proportionate vote in the decision-making process of the organization. According to the news agency, in December 2019, WADA deprived RUSADA of compliance status due to changes in the database of the Moscow laboratory. As a result, WADA suspended Russia for four years from participating in major tournaments. This decision will take effect if confirmed by CAS. In early June, CAS announced the postponement of the consideration of the legal dispute. Meetings will be held behind closed doors from 2 to 5 November.
