Russian Foreign Ministry called on the Eurotroika to fight to maintain a nuclear deal with Iran

The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the UK, France and Germany to return to efforts to preserve and implement the so-called nuclear deal with Iran (Joint Comprehensive Action Plan), the Russian Foreign Ministry said on June 22. Commenting on the initiative of the three European participants in the above agreement to conduct an inspection in Iran by the IAEA, since Tehran allegedly violates the deal, the Russian side noted the following. When the European Union launched the so-called nuclear deal dispute resolution mechanism in the spring, Russia and China, also parties to it, warned the authors of the counterproductiveness of this idea that the resolution would only harm. Moscow recalled that even then it urged Europeans not to play along with supporters of the policy of maximum pressure on Iran, implying the United States. As for the next actions of the European Troika (now to attract the IAEA), they were not dictated by the real state of affairs in the field of the application of safeguards in Iran, because they were not supported by states representing more than half of the world's population, including two permanent members of the UN Security Council, that is, Russia and China. The Russian side called on European partners in the nuclear deal to use the five-year Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (coming on July 14, 2020) as an occasion: We urge European participants in comprehensive agreements to use this opportunity to return to the unifying agenda and continue the struggle for common cause. As previously reported by the news agency, Iran opposed the initiative of the European Union to inspect two facilities with the help of the IAEA to find out whether Tehran violates the terms of the nuclear deal.
