Russia, Egypt and Turkey do not want a power solution in Libya - Lavrov


The foreign ministers of Egypt and Turkey called a military solution to the conflict in Libya unpromising. On June 23, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters. According to him, his colleagues expressed their position during a telephone conversation. All parties noted the need to recognize the futility of a military solution to the conflict. It is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table and look for agreements acceptable to everyone, Lavrov said. He added that the decision on a peaceful settlement should be made by the Libyans themselves, and external players should create conditions for dialogue. According to the news agency, on June 23, political analyst Vladimir Shapovalov noted that the Egyptian authorities fear an escalation of tension in Libya, as this could negatively affect the situation in Egypt itself.
