In Ukraine, due to the fraud of officials, the hospital did not receive 18 IVL devices

In Ukraine, one of the hospitals in Sumy instead of 23 ventilators (IVL) received only five. This was reported on June 27 on the website of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). In this regard, local officials are suspected of abuse of power. According to the investigation, according to the concluded agreement, over seventeen million hryvnias of budget funds were transferred to the commercial structure. For this amount, the medical institution was supposed to be supplied with 23 VIA devices. In fact, the medical institution received only five IVL devices. During the audit, law enforcement officials also revealed that during the purchase, the price of medical equipment was artificially overstated. IVL devices for a medical institution in Sumy cost 20% more than their market value. During searches conducted at the place of work and residence of suspects, law enforcement officers seized documents proving illegal activities. Medical equipment is checked for compliance with certificates. Under article 364, paragraph 2, of the Criminal Code (Abuse of authority or official position resulting in grave consequences), the involvement of officials in the organization of a criminal scheme is verified.
