Human rights defenders accused Burkina Faso military of executing unarmed people

Human rights defenders from Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused Burkina Faso's armed forces of executing 31 unarmed people. This is reported by Al Jazeera on April 20. According to human rights defenders, the victims belonged to the Fulani ethnic group and were killed a few hours after their arrest on 9 April. The incident took place in the town of Jibo, 200 km north of the capital, Guzugu. This is a brutal mockery of the essence of counter-terrorism special operations, this act can be assessed as a war crime and can provoke new atrocities, said HRW representative Corinne Daphka in a comment to the agency. The bodies of 31 people were found by local residents, who claim that these people had previously been detained by the security forces, and some bodies had their hands tied.
