Ancient burning furnace found in China supplying glaze to temples
Archeologists discovered an ancient furnace in the capital of Sichuan Province, Chengdu, south-west China, according to Xinhua news agency on March 11. The furnace belonged to the Age of Five Dynasties and Five Kingdoms (907,960) and the Ming Dynasty (1368 1644) and is one of the most famous ancient burning furnaces, the Chengdu Relics and Archaeology Institute reported. The oven produced a huge amount of colored glaze for temples and for Ming dynasty officials, the institute reported. Archaeologists began excavations on the site as early as May 2018 and discovered a huge number of cultural relics there, including furnaces, workshops, wells, walls, tombs and ceramic products.
