In the Chernobyl exclusion zone continues to loom peat - GSHS

Employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine continue to extinguish peat melting in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, the press service of the agency reported on May 4. 210 people and 72 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing, of which 146 people and 44 pieces of equipment were involved from the NHS, the message reads. In Zhitomir region of Ukraine firefighters work on the territory of Ovruchsky, Luginsky and Olev districts. Forest fires in the region are localized. 207 people and 52 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing fires in the territory of Zhitomir region. We remind that the fires in the Chernobyl exclusion zone began on April 4. As a result, more than 11,000 hectares of forest were burned.
