In Latvia, due to the emergency regime, may postpone extraordinary elections to the Riga Duma
The date of the extraordinary elections to the Riga Duma is likely to be postponed to the summer of 2020. This, according to the LSM portal, was reported by the Prime Minister of Latvia Krishyanis Karinish. According to him, the exact date of elections will be named by the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the country no later than April 14. It is planned that elections to the Riga Duma may take place on June 6. In this case, the deadline for submission of candidate lists for parties for the period from May 1 to May 7 will also be changed. Extraordinary elections to the Riga Duma, dissolved by a decision of the Ministry of Environment and Regional Development of Latvia, with the consent of the Government and the majority of the Parliament, were to be held on 25 April. After the introduction of the emergency regime in Latvia from 17 March to 14 April and the threat of the spread of coronavirus, the situation with regard to the holding of elections fell into the air.
